How to Request books

If you go to 'My book status' on your tool bar, you will see 3 areas;

'Books being requested from you'

This is a list of books which people have requested from you. When you receive an email alert to tell you a book has been requested, the link in the email should take you to this area.

You then can click on 'accept' or you can 'reject' this request. An email will then be sent to the requester with this info. If it is accepted, then the 'requester' will email you with an address to send the books to.

Once the books have been sent, should return to this area and click on 'sent' and an email will be sent to the 'requester' with this info.

'Books you have requested'

This will contain a list of any books you have requested.

Once the books have been received, then you should go to this section and click on 'received' after each title. This will then pull the books out of the 'central library' and add them to 'your current book list' where they will remain for an initial period of 6 weeks.

After this six week period has elapsed, they will be automatically re-entered into the 'central library' for others to request unless you have requested more time.

'Your current books'

This will contain a list of all of the books you have entered onto the site and into the 'central library' and have not as yet, been sent out by post to a 'requester' or signed out by a 'member'during a book club meeting.

When you have confirmed that any new books you have requested have been recieved, then these books will get entered onto 'your current book list' where they will remain until requested in future. New books as mentioned above will not get entered into the 'central library' for others to view as available for a period of six weeks giving you time to read them first.

Once books from 'your current book list' get sent out or chosen (for example by a memeber at one of the book club meetings), then you are no longer the 'owner' of that book..........'the requester' is. It is therefore important that books which are entered onto the site and into the 'central library' are not books you want returning!

If you are solely a 'postal member' and over a time of say six to twelve months you receive no further requests for books which you have recieved from the 'central library' (and therfore other 'owners'), then you should return them to 'an administrator' to hold for the 'central library.so memebers who choose to swap only during 'book meetings' can have access to these.
When someone has sent you a 'request email 'for books, there will be a link on that email which will take you to your 'My book status' area.

Click on 'accept' next to each of the titles requested. This will generate an email to the 'requester' and they will in turn send a reply to you with an address to send the book(s) to.

Find these books, ensure they are marked on the inside cover with a lable or some form of print with 'Marchexchange'.

Wrap the book or books together in strong brown postal paper. You may possibly want to wrap the books first in a piece of bubble wrap to further protect from damage during the? ? postal journey.

Clearly address your book(s) parcel (including a return address behind should there be a problem), and mark them front and back with the words ' PIEGHI DI LIBRI' which tells the postal people that the parcel contains books and is being sent by the 'italian discounted book rate'.

The current charges for sending book parcels from an Italian post office to another address in Italy currently are (according to our local post office):

up to 2 kgs......1,28 Euros
2 to 5 kgs........3,95 Euros

Please note that delivery on these prices will take approximately 2 weeks as it is not a first class service.

You can send 3 to 5 books for the 2 kgs price category if packaged correctly (size depending).

Go back to your 'My book stautus' area and press 'sent' next to the titles you have dipatched and this will generate an email to the owner who will know they are on the way.

When the 'requester' recieves the book(s) they must go to their 'my book status' and click on 'received' against the relavant titles and these will then be pulled from the 'central library' system for a peroiod of 6 weeks and entered onto the 'requesters current book status' list and they will become the new 'owner' until they are requested again.

Please note that whilst people are owners of books in their care, that books belong to the 'Marchexchange' and if an owner ceases to be a 'member' in future that they should return these books back to the 'central library' via an 'administrator'.

'Members' who choose to only swap books during a 'Marche book club' meeting should still load books up on to the 'central library' and bring these books to the meetings so if people 'choose' them they can be 'signed out' in their names so they will appear on to the new owners 'current book status' in future.
Andria
None of the titles I posted have been requested yet. I just thought that I should let you know that I will be having a clear out of our books read shelf before the end of the year. I will be Bookcrossing them all in way or another, so please let me know if you would like any of the titles for your central collection.
