Click? ? first on 'visit the library', then look at the tool bar and click 'add book'

Then enter any combination of author, title and /or isbn number into the first field ( it's quicker and more accurate if you put the author first and then title) and click on the magnifying glass. This will connect the search to the database of books held on Amazon and will come up with a selection for you to choose from.

The selection may contain hardback, paperback and or audio casseste versions. Scroll down and check to see which one corresponds with your book. In particular check the isbn number and the publisher as sometimes there are many versions printed by various publishers of the same book.

When you see the correct book select it and it will lead to another page of details usually with a jacket cover picture for you to check and confirm.

Before you hit confirm go through the pull down menus, and add the correct category, format and condition.

An Amazon review will appear if there is one but you can change this to one of your own if you prefer.

If you are happy that all the details are correct, click 'confirm' and the book will be added to the 'central library' and appear on your 'current book status' until requested and sent out or chosen at a Marche book meeting.

If the search comes back saying there were 'no results' then you must enter the author, title and isbn number in the asterix fields ( and preferably enter information in the non asterix fields as well). Then click on 'add book'

As above, it will come back with a page of details for you to confirm and you should fill in all drop down menus and check details before you click confirm and 'add to library'.

Books should only take a minute to enter........especially if they under 5 years old. It is rare for the Amazon database to come back with nothing except where the book may be a special version such as a book club or promotional copy, a foreign publication or an older book which may no longer be in print.

Jacket pictures may be different to your book version as they can change for example when books become films etc.........they don't always change their isbn number unless it's a new print run or a different publisher. The database will pick up the most recent picture for that isbn number.

How To Request and Send Books

How to Request books

If you go to 'My book status' on your tool bar, you will see 3 areas;

'Books being requested from you'

This is a list of books which people have requested from you. When you receive an email alert to tell you a book has been requested, the link in the email should take you to this area.

You then can click on 'accept' or you can 'reject' this request. An email will then be sent to the requester with this info. If it is accepted, then the 'requester' will email you with an address to send the books to.

Once the books have been sent, should return to this area and click on 'sent' and an email will be sent to the 'requester' with this info.

'Books you have requested'

This will contain a list of any books you have requested.

Once the books have been received, then you should go to this section and click on 'received' after each title. This will then pull the books out of the 'central library' and add them to 'your current book list' where they will remain for an initial period of 6 weeks.

After this six week period has elapsed, they will be automatically re-entered into the 'central library' for others to request unless you have requested more time.

'Your current books'

This will contain a list of all of the books you have entered onto the site and into the 'central library' and have not as yet, been sent out by post to a 'requester' or signed out by a 'member'during a book club meeting.

When you have confirmed that any new books you have requested have been recieved, then these books will get entered onto 'your current book list' where they will remain until requested in future. New books as mentioned above will not get entered into the 'central library' for others to view as available for a period of six weeks giving you time to read them first.

Once books from 'your current book list' get sent out or chosen (for example by a memeber at one of the book club meetings), then you are no longer the 'owner' of that book..........'the requester' is. It is therefore important that books which are entered onto the site and into the 'central library' are not books you want returning!

If you are solely a 'postal member' and over a time of say six to twelve months you receive no further requests for books which you have recieved from the 'central library' (and therfore other 'owners'), then you should return them to 'an administrator' to hold for the 'central library.so memebers who choose to swap only during 'book meetings' can have access to these.
